Change. It hits you in the face so hard sometimes, and so suddenly, you wonder how you'll ever get back on your feet. Your world turns upside down, and as much as you'd want, it never goes back to how it was. As much as it is painful, or at least uncomfortable, it's still good. There is no other way to grow. And it's okay to be scared, just don't resist it, because it'll run you over. It's going to happen, and you can't stop it, as long as you're alive, things are going to constantly change and it's inevitable. Go ahead and be scared, panic, scream, just find it in you to pull your shit together and embrace the metamorphosis. It is, anyway, what makes life so incredibly beautiful.

Anthony Vaccarello - the new YSL boy

The end of 2015 and beginning of 2016 saw a lot of shifts and turns in the fashion industry, including designers playing musical chairs! Besides the introduction of 'see now, buy now' system - which I salute, the change that intrigued me the most was naming Anthony Vaccarello the new creative director of YSL.
I don't know about you, but when I think of YSL woman, I think of a powerful woman, a seductress, clad in masculine tuxedo but feminine and sexy none the less. I think of Helmut Newton's photos, and the women he photographed, so confident in their bodies and owning their sexuality (and nudity) without exploiting it. As Tom Ford said himself: "The Saint Laurent woman is more twisted, more perverse. She is going to tie you up and slap you around before she finally lets you have sex with her. And a lot of that doesn't come so much from Yves, it comes from all those provocative Helmut Newton pictures of YSL clothes from the '70s."

5 minutes to change your life

Do you stick to your New Year's resolutions? I love making them (I love making lists in general) but somehow I always manage to forget about them five days into new year. This year I wanted to change that and try to really apply the resolutions I made. Not that I consider them crucial for accomplishing anything in life, it's just that for the first time in my life I have a very clear vision of where I want to take myself. So I decided to read my resolutions every other day, to make sure I don't forget them. Also, I made over 20 resolutions, which never happened before, and it goes to show how precise I see my future.
While applying some of these decisions takes time, so progress can't be measured on a daily basis, some of them are just small tasks that don't take a lot of time but eventually sum up to better quality of life. For these small tasks I made a 'rule of 5 minutes'.

Lace up

Do you believe people can change? I do. I know lots of people who happily accept change, as well as lots of those stubbornly decisive not ever to change if possible. Myself, I have always loved change. I consider my personality to be fluid, constantly changing shape, adapting, carving its path, only keeping the most fundamental principles along the way. I am way too curious not to accept change. Way too restless to remain unchanged.
This year, certain shifts happened spontaneously, some were made wittingly by myself. Some are fundamental, some are trivial, both make me feel excited and happy to be alive and see what is next to come. Most of the time, I don't even notice these changes, fickleness is my second nature. But when I caught myself polishing my new sneakers at 1:21 AM so they can stay shiny white, I had to laugh at myself out loud. I certainly did not see that one coming!

Oh Captain, my Captain!

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...  I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life! To put to rout all that was not life... And not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived...

The story about the Little Blue Pot

Best things happen out of the blue.
One cold, gloomy morning, exhausted, sleep deprived and on the verge of fainting after the exam, I headed to meet Jovana, who was going to introduce me to her brand, Little Blue Pot. I was already in love with their design, their approach to the online appearance and the whole couture food concept, but I didn't expect much more. I mean, those are just jams, right? Also, I somehow assumed that a serious business player stands behind the whole story, because what I could see is that this brand is building its image in very careful and serious manner. They mean business!
I was (positively) surprised to find out that this brands CEO is a girl my age. The other business partner is her fiancee, also my age. So basically two kids! Two young, energetic and successful people with clear vision and determination. I'll admit, I was knocked off my feet, and that rarely happens these days.
In two hours I spent with Jovana, I've learned a lot about their business. They took traditional, family recipe, and added their own, modern touch. The name Little Blue Pot comes from domestic measurement units that can be found in old family recipes (you may remember your grandma telling you to put 2 little pots of flour for example, instead of saying 200gr of flour). I think it's a really nice touch to have a background story like that. The food is carefully crafted and the packaging design is just so perfect and luxurious. Couture food, at it's finest.
I felt the need to share this story because I think young people in Serbia need this kind of examples to inspire them to be more proactive. I know how much it meant to me to hear such story from someone my age, it was the best encouragement that I could get!

Wrapped up

As someone who adores pencil skirts, I faced many obstacles while hunting for the perfect one in high street stores. I'm not that lucky to have a perfect model figure, so most of the skirts do not fit me very well - they're either too lose at the waist or the length has to be adjusted or it's just ill fitting (mostly all of the above). Also, I haven't yet found the perfect seamstress that would tailor clothes just for me.
That's why I was super excited when I was contacted from Rita and Phill. They are a small business placed in Vietnam that, as opposed to China and Bangladesh mass production capabilities, has earned a reputation for high-quality workmanship and attention to detail. They don't just tailor the skirt precisely to your measures, they also use the fit that will emphasize your curves in the best way possible. With affordable price, it doesn't get much better, right?

masculine

Are you as excited about the new year as I am? I mean, life goes on, and nothing has really changed except the calendar, but I love the clean slate. We all need to refresh and restart every once in a while, and new years are the perfect time to do that. To sum up what you have done and how much you have achieved, and set up some goals for the next 365 days. 366 in this case. I do have a couple of big goals for 2016, and you'll hear all about it when the time comes!
HNY guys!
